Three Shires Head

from £20.00

Taken with a slow shutter speed on a cold, foggy winters day, this image captures the river’s motion as a soft flowing blur against the rugged banks. The long exposure smooths the water into a milky ribbon, suggesting movement and time while the mist shrouds the surrounding rocks and moorland in muted tones.

Three Shires Head marks the meeting point of Derbyshire, Cheshire, and Staffordshire. Historically it was an important crossing on the River Dane for packhorse carts a place where animals were rested and watered before continuing their journeys. The scene combines natural atmosphere with quiet traces of human history, evoking the site’s role as both a landscape feature and a practical waypoint.
